Today, Giving Tuesday 2020, is especially poignant. We’ve been through a lot this year.  Our focus has shifted. Wouldn’t it be great to be a part of the participation in the building back for better? It would.

Here are a few of our favorite non-profits from people who are using the power of water for GOOD. Rock on.

Black Girls Surf

Black Girls Surf is the brainchild of United States Coast Guard Veteran Rhonda Harper. This non-profit’s aim is to build opportunity for girls and women whose career goals include competing in professional surfing. Developing the skills and career paths for black women in West Africa, our immediate goal for Black Girls Surf is shipping a container of surfboards to the west African coast. Surfboards represent the tools of the trade to these young hopefuls. Your contribution goes toward building the dream of a female’s surfing career that includes training camps, professional coaching, proper equipment, school fees & lunches plus a fitness facility where the girls can meet for their on-land training. Contact blackgirlssurf@gmail.com to donate.

Stay tuned for the FULL Spotlight on this non-profit in our Winter 2020-2021 Issue of Standup Journal. On newsstands December 15th!

Ian Cairns SUP Vets GenerationPro surf coach Ian Cairns was at the forefront of the development of the professional sport of surfing. Here, he is spearheading the training on a recent SUP Vets retreat in Punta de Mita, Mex.

The SUP Vets

The SUP Vets specializes in creating world class paddle surfing retreats taught by renowned surf coaches & SUP athletes, specifically designed for our military members. The purpose behind every retreat is to introduce the healing benefits of the ocean, develop new skills while connecting members to the ocean and giving veterans a chance to reclaim the sense of camaraderie often lost when they return to daily life. Free-of-charge for the military, this non-profit, 4-day SUP surfing experience, powered by GenRation Xperiences, includes all lodging, food, equipment, individual & group coaching, sunshine & rest at the Grand Palladium Resorts in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. Next retreat scheduled:  April 26th – May 1st, 2021.

The SUP Vets staff operate on a purely volunteer basis. 100% of your donation goes towards suporting military men and women with an experience that says ‘Thank you’ for their years of service.  Donate via PayPal HERE:  The SUP Vets

Pipers Angels FoundationThe folks at Piper’s Angels Foundation, the driving force behind the annual 80-mile Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis, need our help. Without any events this year, how can they make up the losses in donations? YOU.

Piper’s Angels Foundation

To know them is to love them. The crew at Piper’s Angels Foundation, the driving force behind the 80-mile Crossing for Cystic Fibrosis paddle challenge, needs a boost. With little or no events possible this year, donations which often drive the multiple programs supported by Piper’s Angels Foundation are in need of support. The Urgent Financial Assistance program specifically offers direct aid to families struggling with medical bills and/or other challenges associated with the disease of Cystic Fibrosis. This strong community of dedicated and passionate people whose rallying cry of “Be Bold in the Face of Fear!” inspires all of us with their grit, courage and strength in the face of overwhelming odds. The stories are both heart wrenching and incredible. Dive in and offer your generous support knowing every penny goes towards helping a family in need. To donate go to:  Pipers Angels Foundation, INC.

We thank you, at Standup Journal, for your great hearts and belief in our water community.  Mahalo!
