Kai Lenny blows apart Ho’okipa on Maui’s North Shore in this short video featuring Kai SUP Surfing this Maui break with the power & style he his know for. Worth the watch.

Kai Lenny SUP Surfs Ho’okipa

We haven’t seen Kai Lenny on a paddleboard in a while. Which is why this video is so rad. Kai arrives on the North Shore at Ho’okipa with his custom 7’6 BlurrV2 by Infinity SUP and explains why it’s the perfect board for the conditions.

Watch him slide, rip and attack the waves as he puts that SUP in critical sections of the wave. Get an up-close feel from his GoPro footage to ride the wave alongside him watching his weight shifts and agility throughout. Off the lip maneuvers, tail slides & floaters, it’s a walk in the park for an athlete of Kai’s caliber. Without even trying, Kai is giving a tutorial on how it’s done. His use of compression, paddle skills and rail-to-rail momentum puts this Infinity SUP in the right places for maximum glide and performance.

This video is excerpted from Kai’s “20@20” Vlog, Episode 19!  You can go to his YouTube channel to watch the whole thing and subscribe.

Evelyn O’Doherty

Evelyn O’Doherty, editor & publisher of the new Standup Journal 2.0, worked her way up the ranks in the world of stand up paddling. As a stand up paddle coach & instructor on the East End of Long Island, NY in the Hamptons, Evelyn coordinates numerous events, races and fundraisers. She herself became a strong SUP racer in the North East and a year-round SUP surfer after being introduced to the sport after a neck injury in 2007 which left her benched from surfing that summer. Her love of watersports and commitment to advocacy in preserving our marine environments led to her participation in a short film made with The Nature Conservancy as part of their Clean Water initiatives on Long Island, NY, called “A New Perspective”. Evelyn keeps paddling. Today, as editor, publisher and chief bottle washer at Standup Journal, Evelyn keeps the vibe high and her toes wet writing, paddling, surfing, and learning to foil. You can find her most days paddling out on Gardiner’s Bay or surfing at neighboring Ditch Plains in Montauk, NY.
