You pretty much couldn’t ask for a better teacher. When Tony Hawk gives you some tips and techniques on learning a trick, you listen. Safe to say Reese Nelson was all ears during this session.

“It was a good day: I helped Reese Nelson learn front blunts while relearning them myself,” Tony writes as the caption. “I predict that she will move beyond my teaching abilities very soon.”

Watching the process of this trick go down is really cool to see. We all know the feeling of learning a new trick—unbeatable. But it’s also just interesting to see how Tony dissects the trick and offers up some personal advice along the way, and how well Reese receives the info and utilizes it in the process. Before you know it, something clicks and she’s rolling away smooth.

There’s a trick to every trick. I mean, think about it…they’re literally called tricks. And even though every skater has their own way to execute them, there are always a few universal avenues that might get you there a little faster. Not that any of this is easy, but sharing decades of wisdom, trial and error is certainly beneficial.

At just 10-years-old, Reese Nelson is quickly proving herself in the skateboarding world. Securing her spot on Tony Hawk’s Birdhouse was a major step in her young career, and with brands like adidas, Volcom and a handful of other reputable brands backing her, we can only assume we’ll be hearing plenty more of Reese in the coming years.
