Closing day might have come and gone for the popular Southern California snowboarding resort, Bear Mountain, but the memories from the season will live on. One not-so-distant-memory is the Bear Break Pond Skim contest that was held towards the end of winter when the weather was warm enough to be willing to slide over a pool of water. Photographer Adam Ruzzamenti uploaded an impressive set of shots of the winner, Tom Haraden aka @hotsnake, successfully getting across the full pond skim in front of a huge crowd that probably gathered mostly to watch the potential falls of the contestants. Walking away with the win, check out the peak form below.

What makes these shots even more impressive besides the actual snowboarding? Adam Ruzzamenti shot the sequence on film and developed it himself. Sure, that was common back before the days of digital, but the process and art form has been long passed for the ease and immediacy of the pixels. We get the irony of posting it online and watching the gif on Instagram, but hey… that took a lot longer than a cell phone video and it looks pretty cool as well.
