Endless Surf and Flowstate, two important players in the always-evolving wave pool space, are teaming up to make surf park sessions more personalized, bringing artificial intelligence and next-generation wave technology together in a new partnership. The first product to emerge from the collaboration is The Mixtape, a system designed to let surfers with different abilities ride together while receiving the specific waves they want.

The partnership pairs Endless Surf’s customizable wave technology with Flowstate’s AI-powered computer vision, automated media, and analytics platform. Flowstate will integrate with Endless Surf’s existing software suite, including Surf Concierge, Swell Studio and Wave Doctor, with the companies also planning to incorporate the technology into future Endless Surf lagoons.

The Mixtape has reportedly been nearly two years in development. The idea is straightforward: Instead of organizing a surf park session around a single ability level or wave type, individual surfers can select their preferred waves before entering the water. Flowstate’s computer vision then identifies each surfer in the lineup, while Endless Surf’s Swell Studio delivers the appropriate wave when that surfer paddles into position.

That could change the dynamics of how surf park sessions are structured and organized. Imagine a group of friends or family members who don’t all surf at the same level. Under a conventional session model, they may have to compromise on wave selection or book separate sessions. With The Mixtape, an advanced surfer could request a high-performance wave, while a less experienced friend receives an intermediate or more approachable wave, all during the same session. The system uses Flowstate’s computer vision to identify individual surfers and connects that information with Endless Surf’s ability to change wave characteristics from one wave to the next.

“The Mixtape brings together the two most advanced technologies in their respective fields to make an already unique Endless Surf experience even more personalized,” said Paul Chutter, president of Endless Surf. “Surfers can share long rides with their friends and family while each getting the wave they want, and operators gain an entirely new session product they can offer their guests.”

For Flowstate CEO Luke Wallace, the appeal is similarly rooted in the social side of surfing.

“Surfing with friends or family usually means everyone needs to want the same type of wave, or you end up surfing separate sessions,” Wallace said. “The Mixtape changes that.”

The companies say the partnership will extend well beyond personalized wave delivery. Future applications include automated multi-angle video capture, AI-powered coaching and progression tools, and expanded operator intelligence using surf, guest and operational data.

For an industry still figuring out how technology can make artificial waves feel more like the real thing, The Mixtape represents an interesting next step: Rather than simply making more waves, surf parks may soon be able to make the wave that’s right for you.
