Have we finally found the best wave on earth? Jamie O’Brien certainly thinks so.
In a recent vlog appropriately titled “IS THIS THE BEST WAVE ON EARTH?!”, the Hawaiian free-surfer showcased a mesmerizing, sand-bottomed righthander that left viewers absolutely gobsmacked. It’s perfect. Almost too perfect.

“I think today could potentially be one of the best days in surfing in my eyes in a long time,” O’Brien said in the video, standing in the pre-dawn darkness as he prepared for the swell.
The resulting footage is pretty remarkable. The wave delivers endless, mechanically perfect barrels breaking over a pristine sandbar.
“This is why we flew here. Oh my god… that was insane, it’s still going!” O’Brien yelled as he watched an empty, seemingly never-ending tube peel down the remote coast.

However, one major detail is conspicuously missing from the video: the location. O’Brien and his crew went to extreme lengths to protect the identity of this mythical spot.
In a strategic move to preserve the lineup, O’Brien even turned off the comments on both his YouTube video and accompanying social media posts, successfully shutting down any crowdsourced sleuthing.
“Millions and millions of hours spent traveling to get here,” O’Brien teased, offering zero hints to his whereabouts. “We traveled a long way to get here and to score some incredible waves.”
Despite the tight lips, sharp-eyed surf fans immediately noticed a striking resemblance between O’Brien’s mystery wave and “The Snake,” a legendary sand-bottom pointbreak discovered by Mick Fanning in 2017. While the exact coordinates of “The Snake” remain highly classified, it is widely known to be hidden somewhere along the remote coastline of northwest Africa.
Is O’Brien surfing “The Snake,” or did his team uncover an entirely new world-class sandbar in the same region? We won’t reveal the true location. But one thing is certain: even in the hyper-connected digital age, there are still a few secret, perfect spots left in the world.
“That was a very special one for us,” JOB concluded. “We traveled a long way to get here. And we scored some incredible waves.”
