The X Games League is headed to Canada and Europe for the 2027 season, in addition to its annual stop in the U.S.
The three-stop schedule will kick off at Buttermilk in Aspen from January 29 – 31, 2027. That has been the contest’s home since 2002. A recently signed three-year agreement will keep the X Games at Aspen through 2029.
After that, the league heads to Calgary from February 19-21, 2027. The championship will be held in Ruka, Finland, from April 9-11, 2027.
Big musical acts will perform at each stop. Marshmello and Zhu will perform in Aspen, while Steve Aoki and Levity will have a set in Calgary. Adriatique will close out the Finland stop.
This year is the debut of the team format. Riders will compete for four clubs: XC Golden State, XC New York, XC Park City, and XC Whistler. Along with their skiing teammates, riders will earn points for their teams toward the season standings, with a chance to win the MoonPay X Games League Winter Championship.
While the X Games has a storied history in Aspen, it will make its debut in both Finland and Calgary this year. Previous European stops of the X Games were held in Tignes, France, from 2010 through 2013 and a Norway stop held strong in Oslo, Hafjell, and Bærum from 2016 through 2020. But that 2020 contest in Hafjell was the last one held before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, and in the six years since, Europe has gone without an X Games of their own.
All the events will go down at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park, which is located just 12 kilometers west of downtown Calgary.

This stop makes a long-discussed vision a reality in Canada. Back in 2019, an agreement between X Games and Tourism Calgary was reached to make Calgary the first Canadian city to host the contest. The goal was to bring in visitors to a traditionally slower time of the season. But then Mayor Naheed Nenshi pulled the plug on the deal, saying that a lack of funding was to blame.
“It required that bit of government funding both from the city and the province to be able to get over the hump on this, and I just don’t see that being replaced,” Nenshi said in 2019 to the CBC.
Tickets for all three stops are available to purchase now at the X Games website. The X Games League Draft will take place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
