The legal “Mayhem” between Lady Gaga and legendary surfboard shaper Matt “Mayhem” Biolos has taken another turn.
And now Gaga wants …Lost Surfboards to pay up.
Last month, a federal judge dismissed …Lost parent company Lost International’s trademark lawsuit against Gaga, ruling the surf brand failed to plausibly show that the singer’s use of “Mayhem” was explicitly misleading to consumers. The case centered on Gaga’s Mayhem album, tour and merchandise—and a stylized logo that bears an undeniably striking resemblance to the one Biolos has used for decades.
Now, according to Billboard reporting published September 14, Gaga is seeking $232,484 in attorneys’ fees from …Lost, with her legal team accusing the surf company of dragging out a case they contend never had merit.
“A litigant should not be permitted to use the federal courts to launch a publicity stunt masquerading as a lawsuit against a high-profile artist,” Gaga attorney Orin Snyder wrote. He accused …Lost of trying to “capitalize on the fame and popularity of Lady Gaga” and use litigation to extract a settlement.

The drama dates to March 2025, when …Lost sued Gaga for as much as $100 million. The company argued that Gaga’s “Mayhem” branding was “substantially similar if not nearly identical” to its trademarked logo. Biolos has said he began using the name and imagery on surfboards in the late 1980s.
At the time, Biolos insisted money wasn’t the motivation.

“We don’t want her money,” Biolos said. “We want her stuff. We want her to not make any merch with our name on it.”
A judge denied …Lost’s request for an injunction in December before dismissing the lawsuit in August. …Lost attorney Keith Bremer said the company “respectfully disagree[s]” with that decision and planned to appeal. As of Billboard’s latest report, however, an appeal had not been filed, and Bremer did not respond to its request for comment.
For now, Biolos appears not to have publicly responded to Gaga’s latest demand.
The lawsuit may have been dismissed.
The Mayhem, however, continues.
