Local police are working with authorities to determine the cause of the avalanche, a press release said
A snowboarder has died after an avalanche in Switzerland on January 29, 2025.
The avalanche occurred off-piste in Parpan shortly before noon. After it occurred, Graubünden police were deployed to search for the missing man. After around two hours of searching, he was found in the avalanche field. That area was over 1,640’ long, according to SDA Keystone News.
The man died, despite attempts to resuscitate him, police said. He has not yet been identified, and police are working with local government to understand the circumstances of his death.
“Skiing outside of the marked and secured ski slopes carries a certain risk,” a release from the cantonal police said. “The current avalanche bulletin can be found at www.slf.ch.”
