A street snowboarding contest in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is already planned to take over downtown Houghton in mid-February. Now, Red Bull is spicing it up by adding some money to the pot.

Red Bull will throw $750 to whoever lays down the cleanest, heaviest landing in each section of the Jibba Jabba rail jam.

Jibba Jabba comes back to Houghton, Michigan on February 15, 2025 just a day after Valentine’s Day. The contest is put on by Jenn and Dustin Reed of Minnie Farms and Visit Keweenaw, the local tourism department. It’s sponsored by Red Bull, and features a rail jam course in the middle of the Houghton’s downtown.

The rail jam kicks off at 6 p.m., and a cash prize will be given to the best overall men’s and women’s riders. Red Bull will be on hand with its party car, a DJ, and energy drinks to pass out. Ryan Paul has now been named the MC.

“I’ll be rocking the mic at the 2025 Jibba Jabba Street Style Competition in Downtown Houghton Michigan,” Paul said in an Instagram post. “I’m super pumped to announce this event and bring the stoke for an awesome night! I can’t wait to see what all the riders will throw down!”

The list of participants includes:

Nate Bujarski
Pyawasay Gauthier
Hannah Peterson
Ethan Lukas
Jake Antisdel
Devin Desean
Michael Millet
Jack Hendrickson
Chris Church
Jayva Jordan
Colin Hayes
Ava Peterson
Jake McPherson
Tim Huey
Garrett Mckenzie
Waylon Hastings
Alannah Mareikae
and Andre Hall.

In 2023, Jibba Jabba returned to Michigan’s UP for the first time after a 10-year break. Last year, Duluth, Minnesota’s Jake McPherson took home the men’s top prize, and Jayva Jordan was atop the leaderboard for the women. There will be $1,000 payouts for the winners of both the men’s and women’s contest.

“Professional industry riders hope for a chance to compete for a cash prize each year at Jibba Jabba, traveling from across the nation to put on a show for Houghton,” a press release reads. “Kids of all ages and adults come out, inspired by the impressive feats performed by these riders, who drop in from Shelden Avenue and shred their way down to the Portage Canal.”

Houghton is near two ski areas: Mt. Ripley and Mt. Bohemia. The latter was featured in The New York Times travel section last year.

It will be the second big rail jam that Red Bull sponsors in the Midwest in the month of February. Red Bull Heavy Metal will go down on February 1 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
