A shocking act of animal cruelty at El Trampolín beach in Ceuta, Spain, has ignited international outrage after videos surfaced showing a group of men allegedly beating a disoriented baby bottlenose dolphin to death.
The disturbing footage, which quickly went viral across social media platforms, shows individuals – reportedly migrant men – pulling the vulnerable young cetacean out of the shallow water before one of the men strikes it in the head with a heavy wooden stick.

Eyewitnesses reported that after the lethal blow, the group began celebrating along the shoreline, holding the dying calf aloft and posing with it as if it were a prize catch. Witnesses noted that workers from a local cleaning company intervened, urging the men to stop the assault and return the animal to the sea, but the calf appeared to have already succumbed to the head trauma before being dragged away.
The horrific incident triggered immediate condemnation from animal rights advocates and local residents. In response, local activist Nadia García Gómez launched a petition on Change.org calling on Spanish law enforcement and judicial authorities to identify, prosecute, and punish those responsible for the attack.
In her petition statement, García Gómez highlighted the disturbing nature of the recordings, writing, as translated from Spanish:
“The shocking images circulated on social media show those responsible displaying the cetacean as if it were a trophy.”

Emphasizing that animal cruelty must be met with strict legal accountability regardless of who commits it, García Gómez added:
“This act of excessive and unjustifiable cruelty cannot go unpunished. Dolphins are species strictly protected under Spanish and European law, and their mistreatment constitutes a serious criminal offense.”
In Spain, bottlenose dolphins are a strictly protected marine species under environmental laws.
Animal welfare organizations, including PACMA, have filed formal complaints with the Guardia Civil, noting that killing a protected cetacean can carry prison sentences of up to two years and substantial financial penalties as authorities work to locate those involved.
