A pro model snowboard is one of the highest honors a snowboarder can receive from a brand. So naturally, DJ Steve Aoki is getting one from Burton.

Aoki and Burton have teamed up to release a limited edition collection of snowboards, bindings, and outerwear. The gear debuted at Burton’s Santa Monica store while Aoki was there for special meet-and-greet and autograph signing.

Members of Burton’s First Chair loyalty program have the opportunity to purchase it on February 4, 2025, and the public can purchase it the following day.

The collection includes the Free Thinker snowboard, a Steve Aoki-fied version of the Danny Davis go-to board that features graphics from “HiROQUEST,” a graphic novel and manga series. A Burton SkipJack board is also part of the release, as well as Step On Cartel and Lexa bindings featuring the signature art, and Burton’s Futuretrust jacket and pants.

The Free Thinker board is a true twin built for hot laps in the park, pipe, or side hits. The SkipJack makes its return from the archives for this special launch. Inspired by swallowtail surfboards, the Skipjack allows riders to have control and stay nimble through deep glades and trees.

“I’m so excited about this collaboration with Burton,” says Aoki. “Snowboarding has been a huge part of my life, and working with a brand I’ve admired for so long is truly a dream come true. This is a celebration of my passion for the sport and the culture that surrounds it.”

The collection made its debut in Houston, Texas at the November 2024 Collect-A-Con.

Aoki has been a devoted snowboarder for as long as he’s been in the public eye. In 2023, he posted a video on YouTube shredding with pros like Ben Ferguson, Danny Davis, Louie Vito, and Chloe Kim. He laid down Eurocarves, tossed backside 360s, and even attempted a few backflips.

In 2016, Aoki offered up his private jet to the winner of the Snowboard on the Block contest. Jesse Paul won the rail jam in Colorado, then found out he would have 10 minutes to find five people to join him on Aoki’s jet on a one-way trip to Las Vegas, Nevada.

It’s not unusual for Burton to collaborate with musicians. In February 2023, Burton released limited-edition run of snowboards, boots, bindings, outerwear, streetwear, bags throught its Mine77 collection in partnership with the New York hip hop group Run-DMC. Proceeds benefit the Chill Foundation and Jam Master Jay Foundation.

In 2021, Burton did the same with the All Eyez On Me collection, dropping a board honoring Tupac Shakur.
