You’ve probably heard the theory before – it’s that the octopus is not from earth.
They’re aliens. They are so different from anything else on this planet, that they must have come from a different place altogether. The theory is called panspermia.
Anyway, scientists discovered a new species of octopus off the coast of the Galapagos Islands, which according to that theory, would make it a new alien species. And this one is incredibly cute, like a Pixar cartoon or a stuffed animal. Check it out.
Per Scientific American:
“In July 2015, during a 10-day expedition in the Pacific Ocean, researchers onboard the E/V Nautilus launched a robotic sub called Hercules just off the coast of Darwin Island, part of the Galápagos archipelago. On an underwater mountainside some 1,773 meters below the sea’s surface, the team discovered a little blue octopus.
“On a video of the excursion, the scientists can be heard chuckling and cooing over the creature: ‘Is that a cute little guy or what?’ said one team member. Another followed, ‘Oh, my goodness, that is adorable.’”
It’s been 11 years since the footage was taken, but a paper was just published on the findings, courtesy of octopus expert (yes, that’s a real thing) Janet Voight.

For now, the new species is being dubbed Microeledone galapagensis.
But for those of the panspermia camp – the ones who believe octopi are actually aliens – this is another breakthrough in contact with extraterrestrial life. It seems like there’s been a lot of that going around lately, with the government declassifying UAP files.
And the theory is nothing new. According to Harvard University: “Speculations about the origins of life on Earth have existed since the dawn of civilization. The Greek philosopher Anaxagoras (500-428 BCE) asserted that the seeds of life are present everywhere in the universe (Nicholson, Trends Microbiol 17:243-250, 2009). He coined the term panspermia to describe the concept as life traveling between planets as seed.”
The octopus is the prime candidate in support of this theory – it’s just so unlike anything else on earth with its high intelligence, body type, DNA (octopi have 30,000 genes; 10,000 more than humans), unique abilities (camouflage, flexible bodies), etc.
So, aliens…already amongst us?
