Two men were arrested Wednesday after San Diego police searched an Ocean Beach home allegedly connected to reports of psilocybin mushroom gummies being handed out to children during Halloween trick-or-treating.
The search warrant was executed around 11 a.m. at a residence on Sunset Cliffs Boulevard as part of an ongoing narcotics and child endangerment investigation, according to ABC 10News. Authorities reportedly seized more than 2.5 pounds of cannabis, more than 25 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, at least two firearms and other evidence. Investigators also recovered a bag of suspected psilocybin gummies described as identical to those allegedly distributed to trick-or-treaters.
The investigation began after parents reported finding suspicious gummies in their children’s Halloween candy baskets. Two fathers said their children had picked up packages while trick-or-treating in Ocean Beach on Saturday night. The packaging reportedly resembled candy but was labeled as containing five grams of psilocybin (enough to launch anyone into orbit).

According to 10News, Michael Goff, 80, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Shawn Michael Foster, 45, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Both were booked into San Diego County Jail.
The arrests come after growing concern among local families about the incident. Parents who discovered the gummies said they immediately checked their children’s candy and contacted police. While the investigation remains ongoing, the incident has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the distribution of the suspected drug-infused treats and whether they were intentionally given to children.
One Ocean Beach parent interviewed by 10News described the situation as shocking but said he did not believe it reflected the broader community. Ocean Beach, a longtime San Diego surf enclave known for its independent spirit and tight-knit neighborhood culture, is now at the center of an unsettling Halloween investigation. Police have not announced whether additional arrests are expected.
