I’m not sure Su Yiming can be stopped.
The Chinese rider just won his second straight Big Air event last week in Beijing. He had to come from behind to do so, overtaking Japan’s Kira Kimura with a switch backside 1980. His winning total was 181. Kimura had a 178.25.
This week at Steamboat Resort in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, he’ll try to make it three straight. So of course, I picked him for my FLYP Fantasy team this week. You can, too.
Snowboarder has teamed up with FLYP Fantasy to bring readers a fantasy league just for them. FLYP Fantasy Manager is the first multi-discipline fantasy platform for skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing, surfing, wakeboarding, and mountain biking.
Each week, players are allotted a budget of 350 points that they use to add players to their lineup. Those projected to score well, like Taiga Hasegawa or Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, will cost more from your budget. Newcomers and athletes competing in events that aren’t their strong suit, like Chunyu Ge or Nicolas Huber, will cost less from your budget.

Here’s who else I picked this week:
Men:
- Rocco Jamieson – The Kiwi has pulled out some pretty impressive tricks in training runs. The man loves grabbing Bloody Dracula, and if he can put down the right trick, that’s a surefire way to land on the podium.
- Su Yiming – This guy is on an absolute tear. How can I pick against him?
- Marcus Kleveland – He’s working his way back from an injury, and hasn’t yet found the podium. It’s just a matter of time though until the man who invented spin-to-win retakes his throne.
- Sam Vermaat – He finished in 16th last week, and has a crispy 1260 rodeo that you should keep an eye out for.
- Brian Rice – Flyin’ Brian always makes it look easy.
Women:
- Mia Brookes – Do I really need to explain this pick? She won the Big Air and Overall Park and Pipe Crystal Globes last season. She won the last event in Beijing. It’s a safe pick.
- Juliette Pelchat – She paid homage to the late Martin Gallant at her last FIS appearance, and it feels like some sort of higher power has to be on her side after that.
- Maisie Hill – Expect a big push from Hill as the Olympics approach. She’ll hope to ride for Great Britain in Italy.
- Kaitlyn Adams – A member of the U.S. Rookie team, the Silverthorne, Colorado resident typically thrives on the steel, but she’s a great value pick for this weekend.
- Ariana Burri – The Norwegian rider finished in fourth place in Beijing, and has a super steezy 1080 in her bag.
