Anon, the maker of ski and snowboard helmets, goggles, and accessories, today introduces the Winter ’21 helmet line equipped with WaveCel® technology. The Merak WaveCel and the Logan WaveCel helmets are the first snowsports models designed with this new evolution in head protection technology, which Anon will have exclusive rights to in the snowsports industry for the season.
The new Anon WaveCel helmets contain technology aimed at helping prevent snow related head injuries. WaveCel is a collapsible cellular structure that lines the inside of the helmet, working like a crumple zone that helps absorb the force of an impact before it reaches a rider’s head. In order to help protect the head and absorb the energy created by an impact, WaveCel goes through a three-step change in material structure. First, the cells flex to help reduce the initial frictional forces. Next, the cells crumple like a car bumper upon impact. Finally, WaveCel glides to help redirect energy away from the head.
“WaveCel is the first helmet technology to receive funding from the U.S. National Institute of Health,” says Mark Wakeling, Anon’s Global Business Unit Director. “When it comes to snowsports, safety is our number one priority. The use of Wavecel’s collapsible cell structure material in the Merak and Logan helmets is evidence of Anon’s commitment to continually improving helmet safety.
In addition to WaveCel technology, both the new Merak WaveCel and Logan WaveCel helmets come loaded with additional premium comfort and fit features. These include but are not limited to an in-shell 360 BOA® fit system, Fidlock® buckle, and Polartec® Power Grid™ fleece lining for added warmth and comfort. All Anon helmet models are compatible with Anon goggles and MFI facemasks.
The Logan WaveCel and Merak WaveCel helmets are available through Anon/Burton DTC and limited wholesale partners globally, including partner stores. Select samples for media are available by working with PR representative Jill Thomas at jill.thomas@backbonemedia.net
