Remember the days when (shark) ignorance was bliss?

Drones weren’t a thing, and we really had no idea how often we surfed around sharks, which is 97% of the time according to a study from Cal State Long Beach’s Shark Lab.

But now we know, and thanks to those drones we have an abundance (I know, you’re probably thinking too many) of videos showing sharks and surfers coexisting in the water. And for today’s daily dose of shark footage, we’ve got a really beautiful one for you.

Our latest shark clip above was shot by Trystan Snodgrass, a wildlife photographer from San Diego, California.

Snodgrass, known on Instagram as drone_dude_trystan, kept the caption simple:

“Just crusin'”

He sent a message of shark awareness as well written in hashtags that translates to:

“Not a threat. Happens all day every day. Sharks are not monsters.”

Snodgrass’ posted his latest clip last night and it shows a big great white shark swimming parallel to shore in gorgeous, crystal-clear California water.

There’s a surfer paddling back out on the inside and another one in front of the shark.

The scene is really quite picturesque.

For a second, the shark’s perfectly aligned inside of a wave as the surfer paddles for it. He catches it and kind of drops in on the shark.

But the shark keeps going, cruising along slowly and steadily parallel to the shore.

The video stops there, but it looks like the person paddling back out might be in for a surprise.
