The second annual Board Shop Day, an event celebrating independent board shops that are vital to the Surf, Skate, and Snow industries and their customers, will be held September 19th, 2020 worldwide (postponed from May 2020 due to COVID-19).
The goal of Board Shop Day is to put the special back into specialty retail. Rather than making it a holiday of sales and discounting (though shopping at your local shop is encouraged), this is more a day to celebrate the board shops that breed and sustain the board-riding cultures that so many live and hold dear.
Building the Revolution founder, Mike Vavak, decided to create this event to honor board shops around the world. “It’s been said before that board shops are the temples of our industry. Let’s protect our temples and celebrate them. Is it too much to ask for a day dedicated to the shops that created an industry and culture for many of us?”
On September 19th, 2020, all who have experienced and been influenced by true board shops are encouraged to post their favorite board shop image, memories and shout outs on Instagram with the hashtag #BoardShopDay.
